Editorial Policy

At Positive People, we take real care with the information we publish. This Editorial Policy explains how we create, review and maintain the content on our website — including our Insights articles, guides and service pages — so you can have confidence in what you read here.

Who writes our content

Our content is created by our team of experienced HR consultants, drawing on more than 30 years of hands-on experience supporting New Zealand businesses. We write about the employment and people-management issues we deal with every day — from employment relations and compliance through to leadership development and organisational change — with a focus on being practical, clear and relevant to New Zealand employers.

Accuracy and currency

We aim to ensure our content is accurate and reflects current New Zealand employment legislation and good HR practice at the time of writing. Employment law changes regularly, and Employment Relations Authority and court decisions continue to shape best practice. Where an article relates to legislation or legal obligations, please check the date it was published or last updated, as some older articles may not reflect the most recent changes. We review key content periodically and update or retire material that is no longer current.

General information, not advice

The content on our website is provided for general information only. While we hope you find it useful, it is not a substitute for professional advice tailored to your specific circumstances. Every workplace and situation is different, and the right approach depends on the facts involved. Before acting on anything you read here, we recommend seeking advice specific to your situation — and we are always happy to help.

How we research our content

Our articles are grounded in our practical experience and, where relevant, in reputable sources such as New Zealand employment legislation, government guidance and established HR best practice. We aim to explain things in plain language rather than legal jargon, and to give employers information they can genuinely use.

Review and editing

Before we publish, our content is reviewed by experienced members of our team to check that it is accurate, practical and consistent with our values and approach. We take responsibility for the content we publish under the Positive People name.

Use of technology and AI

We may use technology, including AI-assisted tools, to help with tasks such as research and drafting. Any content produced with the help of these tools is reviewed, edited and approved by our experienced HR consultants before it is published, so that it reflects our professional judgement and real-world experience.

Independence

Our content reflects our own independent, professional views. Any tools or services we mention are included because we believe they genuinely help New Zealand businesses — based on our experience, not on paid placement or sponsorship.

Corrections and feedback

We want our content to be accurate and helpful. If you spot something that looks incorrect or out of date, please let us know and we will review it and make any necessary corrections. You can contact us at info@positivepeople.co.nz or on 0800 00 00 49.
